Save911.org is a campaign to educate Missouri residents and lawmakers of the funding challenges 911 Centers are facing in Missouri.
Across Missouri, 911 Call Centers are dealing with budgets that are decreasing drastically. This financial crisis started way before the economic downturn of 2008. It started when Missouri residents began disconnecting their home phones and using their cell phones as their primary means of communication. Currently Missouri has no legislation mandating a 911 service fee for cell phone users. Which means that those with home phone service pay the majority of the 911 cost in most counties. With more and more Missourians disconnecting their home phone service the problem is becoming increasingly worse.
Missouri 911 Professional Organizations, National 911 Professionals, and their supporters are working on legislation to file this year. Our vision is to see a statewide 911 solution that provides adequate funding, upgrades out dated equipment, and creates a Standard Of Care that all Missourians deserve.
